AN APPRAISAL OF THE ACCESSIBILITY OF MICROFINANCE BANK SERVICES BY SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN NIGERIA
Abstract
The study assessed the effects of Microfinance banks on the performance of small and medium scales businesses in Nigeria. Secondary data were used for the study, with the overridingobjective to determine the level of awareness on the activities of microfinance banks and the accessibility of the services of microfinance banks by small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The study hypothesized that there is no significant relationship between microfinance bank and SME development in Nigeria. Ordinary least square method was used to analyze the data. Finding revealed that there is a significant relationship between microfinance banks and SME development in Nigeria. Improvement of access to microfinance services will enhance the development of SMEs.
